2004 Forecast: McAfee
- Network Associates' anti-virus company McAfee has reported year on year revenue growth of over 26% for the financial year 2003. The company expects this growth will continue in 2004, with a new joint marketing campaign with Middle East distributors Aptec. Patrick Hayati, Regional Director for Network Associates, anticipates that hacking with malicious intent will represent a bigger threat in 2004 than viruses.

- The Business Software Alliance has recently undertaken a massive public service campaign targeting end-users, to raise awareness about thenegative effects of using pirated software. - Epson hopes its recent IPO will enable it to offer expanded product lines in markets outside Japan. Khalil El-Dalu, General Manager for Epson Middle East, anticipates the biggest demand for multimedia, multi-function devices such as printer-scanner-copiers, as well as digital cameras.

2004 Forecast: Eastern Networks
- Eastern Networks has identified two major trends for 2004: firstly high availability and business continuity. Secondly, a trend towards voice over IP and VPNs. Marketing Manager Zakia Demaghelatrous says the company is also hoping to have a presence in Iraq, and is already working with a local partner there.

- HP's Services division is enjoying strong demand for contact centres, most recently launching a contact centre for Gulf Air. HP's General Manager for Services, Mike Smith, says he expects 2004 to be a very high growth year for services, with increasing local and international competition.

HP's General Manager for Personal Systems Group, Christoph Schell, anticipates biggest growth for 2004 in the SME sector, particularly with wireless networking.
