  • ATM: Survey reveals surprise results

  • A survey into the leisure travel market by AME Info has yielded surprising results. Two thousand Middle East respondents were quizzed on their travel planning and buying behaviour. The findings could influence future marketing strategy for many travel and tourism organisations.

  • Dnata welcomes more traffic

  • Dnata has praised Lufthansa's new flat-bed business class seats, saying they will fit an important niche in Arab-European travel. Rashid Al Noori, Senior Vice President of Dnata, predicts healthy growth in regional traffic, helped by new airlines as well as increased capacity on existing ones.

  • Lufthansa has introduced fully reclining flat-bed seats for business passengers on several routes. Broadband inflight internet access is also being installed. Lufthansa plans to increase frequency on its Dubai-Munich route, with daily flights scheduled from the autumn.

  • Emirates Holidays, which represents 8% of total Emirates Group turnover, enjoyed 22% profit growth from 2002 to 2003, with 24.8% passenger growth in the same period.   • Interview: Singapore Tourism

  • Singapore's US$9 billion a year tourism industry was hit hard between March and May in 2003, as visitor arrivals plunged by more than 70 per cent due to SARS. Tourism Board chief executive Lim Neo Chian believes Singapore's new brand positioning will help it reach its target of 7.6 million visitors in 2004, a 24 percent annual increase.
