Future Pipe wins Abu Dhabi deal
- Future Pipe Industries Group has won a contract to supply fibreglass pipes and fittings for the Abu Dhabi Sewerage Services Company, worth more than Dhs276.5m, reported Gulf News. Fibrestrong fibreglass pipes with diameters ranging from 400mm to 1600mm will be used for the Al Sa'ad Waste Water Treatment Plant.

Building Futures Gulf opens today
- About 225 companies and building industry players from 26 countries will participate today at the inaugural edition of Building Futures Gulf by Batimat at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre. The event is organized by Reed Exhibitions and will showcase nnovations in building performance such as climate control, façade, structure and intelligence until 23rd April.

Sabic eyes India petrochem
- Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (Sabic) said it is looking to build a petrochemical plant in India, reported Reuters. The amount of investment has not been disclosed. Sabic currently supplies some petrochemical products in India.

Greenline unveils largest yacht outfitting factory
- UAE-based Greenline group has launched its new headquarters which will house the world's largest yacht interiors factory, according to a statement. The facility, located in the Jebel Ali Free Zone Authority, is spread over 60,000 square metres with the factory designed to accommodate a 150 metre-plus mega yacht. The group's current projects under development are estimated at Dhs1bn ($272m), which the company expects to double in the coming years, reported Gulf News.

UAE steel prices soar
- Steel prices have soared in the UAE this year due to a booming construction industry and are likely to keep rising, reported Reuters. A tonne of rebar, used in construction, cost around $1,020 on Tuesday, up from around $900 in the first week of March, dealers said. One executive from a Gulf steel producer estimated prices could hit $1,500 a tonne by the end of the year.

Daewoo to build $624m fertilizer plant in Algeria
- South Korean builder Daewoo Engineering & Construction Co has received a 613.8 billion won ($624m) contract to build a fertilizer project in Algeria, reported Bloomberg. Construction will be completed by April 2012, the company said.

Kraft launches $40m plant in Bahrain
- Kraft Foods is launching a new $40m manufacturing plant in Bahrain, reported the Bahrain Tribune. The facility will produce 60,000 tonnes of the global food processor's popular brands - Tang, Kraft Cream Cheese Spread and Kraft Cheddar Cheese - for the Middle East and Africa markets. The ISO-certified plant at the Bahrain International Investment Park will create more than 250 jobs and contribute $120m to the Bahrain economy annually, the company said.

Sabic decides against OSOS
- Saudi Basic Industries Company (SABIC) said in a statement that it has decided against participating at OSOS petrochemicals project at Yanbu Industrial City. After several negotiations, the parties did not reach a final agreement on the project. Sabic has earlier signed a memorandum of understanding on an initial study to update the economic feasibility for entering as partner on the project.
