Charity ad competition

The Rashid Pediatric Therapy Centre has thrown down a challenge to Dubai advertising agencies to come up with a powerful and insightful print advertising campaign for the centre. This is part of a campaign to raise Dhs50,000 for the centre. The winning ad will be run in Gulf News and Al Bayan with a special awards ceremony on December 14.

Bahrain fastest growing ad market

Advertising expenditure in Bahrain has shown the strongest growth in the Middle East during the first nine months of the year, according to the Pan-Arab Research Centre. Spending was up by 43 per cent to USD81m in the period. Bahrain was followed by Qatar up 43 per cent, the UAE up 40 per cent and Saudi Arabia up 38 per cent.

GCC ad spending up 45pc

Advertising expenditure in the GCC increased by 45 per cent to USD2.7bn in the first nine months of 2004, reported Satchi and Satchi boss Khamis al-Moqlah. He told KUNA that Arab satellite channels had the biggest share of this increase, with their advertising revenues up by 55 per cent to USD1.3bn.

DMC re-opens after mourning

The Dubai Media City was open for business again yesterday after observing a three-day mourning period following the sad death of the UAE President Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. However, full public services will not expected to be back in operation until after the Eid holiday on November 20.

AME Info, new record audience

AME Info saw unique visitors rise by 14 per cent to 369,564 in October, and page views increased by two per cent on September to a new record of 16.3m. Registered users of the Middle East's leading business website grew by seven per cent in the month to 41,490. A new E-Banking column sponsored by Citigroup is the latest addition to the website.

Seven dead in Al Arabiya blast

A car bomb killed seven people at the Baghdad office of Al Arabiya, the Dubai-based television station. Terrorists responsible for the blast claimed Al Arabiya was a mouthpiece for the US-led occupying force in Iraqi. A futher 19 people were injured in the blast.
