Flip tracks online ad success
Flip Media's online advertising, tracking and verification system BrandCentral logs an average 2m page impressions per day from its users. Impressions from banners, emails and other online advertising are measured and audited through BrandCentral which is being used by the majority of advertising, online media agencies and web publishers in the Middle East.
Qatar Airways, games promotion
Qatar Airways, the Official Airline for the 15th Asian Games Doha 2006, and the Doha Asian Games Organising Committee has unveiled its first Airbus A330 themed aircraft to promote the biggest ever sporting event to be staged in the region. The new livery features distinctive vibrant colours and imagery created specifically for the Doha 2006 Games.
UAE, new law on media theft
The UAE is to revise its intellectual property law by the end of the year to meet the requirements of a Free Trade Agreement with the US. Dubai Media City director Mohammad Al Mulla told Gulf News that once the updates come into effect, they would have an impact on the country's overall business activity including the media.
Flying projection screen
MultiSell Technology Middle East has announced the regional launch of MultiSphere, the world's first and only flying projection screen housed in a gigantic helium balloon that can be used for high visibility advertising and projection purposes at trade exhibitions and outdoor events.
Bahrain Circuit website renewal
Flip Media is being retained for another year as the online agency of record with the Bahrain International Circuit. Flip redesigned the website in 2004, and now is doing further online implementations taking the brand on to the next commercial level online. The agency has also been awarded the contract to develope a microsite for Adventure Drive Arabia, an offroad project in Bahrain.
Flip Media wins Air Arabia account
Flip Media has completed the first stage of Air Arabia's website upgrade after it won the account to manage the airline's online agenda. Under the agreement, FM is responsible for the development of the new website and booking engine facility, and is to support the airline's re-branding, online marketing strategy and creative campaigns.
Reuters call to release journalist
Reuters demanded that US forces release an Iraqi cameraman who was still being held more than 24 hours after being wounded in an incident in which his soundman was killed. Reuters had dispatched the team to cover an assignment shortly before they were shot.
OER partners MEED conference
Oman Economic Review will be Oman's media partner for the Middle East Economic Digest's conference on the emergence of Oman's Sohar Port as a strategic and competitive economic base in the Middle East. The conference, called Port of Sohar, Oman - Anchoring Success, runs from 15-16 November 2005 in Oman.
Al Arabiya, new appointment
Al Arabiya has appointed Jihad Ali Ballout as its new director of corporate communications. Ballout was the official spokesman for Qatar-based Al Jazeera up to July 2005, and its main link to both regional and international media. MD Abdul Rahman Al Rashed said Jihad's appointment is a gain for Al Arabiya.
Dubai Night of AdEaters
MasterCard International will screen the international festival show about advertisements called The Night of the AdEaters, from 4-7 September at the Madinat Theatre in Dubai. Created in 1981 by Jean-Marie Boursicot, the show features over 500 of the world's finest creative commercials and is held in more than 160 cities and 47 countries every year.
QCV offers new sports channels
Al Jazeera's two new channels, Sports Plus-1 and Sports Plus-2, will be telecast free-to-air for a limited period on the microwave video distribution system by Qatar Cable Vision. QCV is negotiating telecast royalties for the channels with Al Jazeera.
OER to promote summit
Oman Economic Review has been appointed as the media partner in Oman for Leaders in Dubai 2005. Under the arrangement, OER will work with organisers Leading Minds to promote and market the annual leadership summit. The event takes place from 28-29 November in Dubai.
UAE filmakers, US showing
UAE-based student filmmakers are having their work shown at the University of Southern California School of Cinema and Television in Los Angeles in October. The group will present 15 short films in a package called Greetings from the Gulf. There will also be a screening at the Director's Guild of America.
Online award to Sheikh Mohammad
An online poll designed to encourage analysis of the region's best business practices has named Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum as the Arab world's most admired leader. The poll was conducted by AME Info and Al Arabia in association with Leaders in Dubai.
Flip Media, Downtown Dubai site
Flip Media has developed a new website for Emaar Properties, www.downtownliving.ae, which highlights the residential, recreational, commercial and entertainment facilities offered by Emaar's Downtown Dubai development. The website launch will be supported by a regional online media campaign through major business and lifestyle portals.
