Top Arab journalists and media meet today in Dubai with the objective of building bridges between international media and Arab organisations. The two-day forum is jointly organised by the Arab Thought Foundation and the Dubai Press Club.

Dubai Holdings chairman Mohammad Al Gergawi yesterday accused Arab journalists of being corrupt and accepting regular payments from governments in the region, reported Gulf News. His remarks at the Young Arab Leaders Forum angered journalists who countered accusing governments and business of corruption.

The Bahrain Tribune has relaunched with a new design and columnists to battle rival Gulf Daily News, reported Campaign Middle East. The 24-page English newspaper has upped staff from 25 to 36 and added UK and US pages, increasing its total to 28 pages. Its unaudited circulation is claimed at 4,800 plus 2,000 complimentary copies.
Dubai Media City based Corinthian Publishing has launched what it hopes will be the UAE's most comprehensive English-language publication focussing on all aspects of health, childcare and parenting from pregnancy to pre-school. Bumps & Babes magazine will be issued monthly, in A4 format.

The Dubai International Film Festival has announced its five key sponsors: Bin Hendi, Kanoo, National Bank of Dubai, Showtime and The Palm, Jumeirah. The festival will feature 98 films which will be shown from December 11-17 with a free screening in the Dubai Media City.

The Print Media Management Conference is to be held in Dubai next month, with a focus on the latest trends and technologies in the printing industry. German organisers Printpromotion said import of printing machinery from Germany to the GCC in 2004 was worth around $27m.

Al Jazeera is threatening legal action to determine the truth behind the alleged threat by US President George Bush to bomb its Doha headquarters, MD Wadah Khanfar told the UK's Guardian newspaper. He says the network would not back off from its demand to have a memo containing the alleged comments by Bush published.
Media adviser to the UAE's Ministry of the Interior, Essam Jamil Azouri, has been named as one of the 2,000 most distinguished media personnel in the field of culture and information by the International Biographic Centre in Cambridge, reported WAM.

Fujairah is planning to build a dedicated media zone called Creative City, to attract regional and international media companies to the emirate. Fujairah Media, the company set up to develop the project, covers four areas: TV, radio, publishing and services. It will launch an Arabic commerical radio service, FM, in December.

The Beirut-based Arab Thought Foundation and Dubai Press Club are holding a conference titled "Arab and World Media: Getting it Right", in Dubai from 5-6 December. The conference aims to highlight the role regional media plays in influencing politics, the perceptions of both Arabs and non-Arabs, and in shaping opinions.

Reed Travel Exhibitions, which organises Arabian Travel Market, is to produce a twice-yearly magazine, called Premier, for the show's exhibitors and trade buyers. Travel Trade Gazette Middle East and North Africa will publish the magazine which is due out in February and September 2006, and which will be distributed to around 10,000 exhibitors and trade buyers.

Regional advertisers are being short-changed in ad-spend due to high rates of counterfeit goods flooding local markets, with subsequent public loss in brand trust, according to a report in Campaign Middle East. The GCC counterfeit goods market is worth $7bn says Jeddah-based Hemaya Universal CEO Ahmed Al-Zubeidi, whose company works to uncover counterfeiters in Saudi.
Co-op Islami, the Dubai producer and retailer of real halal products, announced the signing of a $270,000 contract with Team Creatif, the French company specialised in brand positioning. Team Creatif is to create a unique visual and brand identity for this well respected corporation.

The October eABC audit for AME Info has revealed a 175% growth in readership over the past six months to an average of 29,000 unique users per day.
