UK-based Oxford Business Group has collaborated with four local institutions to research and produce Emerging Oman 2006, part of a regional series which covers 18 countries in the MENA region. The publication will provide analysis of Oman's political and macroeconomic environment, as well as review trends in all the major economic sectors.
Sporting equipment manufacturer Puma has entered into a sponsorship agreement with the Saudi Arabian Football Federation, commencing 1 January 2006. Under the deal, Puma will be the official supplier of clothing and equipment to Saudi national teams beyond the 2010 World cup in South Africa.

The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing has released the 2006 edition of its annual tourism manual Destination Dubai. The 120-page manual has comprehensive information about the the emirate, including trade, travel and tourism, and sport, while offering a complete list of shopping and other leisure information.

CNN International is running a weeklong series of special programmes and daily live reports on the region from Beirut and Amman, according to Campaign Middle East. Campaign Eye on the Middle East is being sponsored by Investcom, Qatar Airways, Banque de la Mediteranee and Intercontinental Hotels, Lebanon. The programmes will air from 21-25 November.

The magazine offers a mix of news stories, lifestyle trends, human interest issues and a round up of the week's entertainment. BBC World Service has appointed the Dubai-based PR agency Asda'a to represent its interests in the Arab world for the next six months. The agency initially pitched for a BBC Arabic radio campaign, which launches across five countries in the Middle East in February 2006. But the BBC has now extended the contract so the agency can handle Arabic language press relations for its planned Arabic TV station.

India-based Zee Network has launched Zee Arabiya, an Arabic, Western and Asian music and lifestyle channel. The channel will be telecast through Nilesat, Arabsat and NSS, in a free-to-air format. It is also available on the basic packages of E-Vision and Pehla platform.
Dubai Islamic Bank has created a new corporate identity to coincide with its 30th anniversary. DIB's symbol retains the Alislami circular shape and reflects the design of the first ever Islamic coins known to history. The Arabic typeface has been changed to Al Thuluth, an original Arabic font which is easy to interpret and read.

More than 1.5m unique visitors viewed an average of almost 10m pages of Yahoo! every day in the UAE in October, placing the country second only behind Egypt, with over 3.4m visitors, for Internet users in the region. Online advertising has increased by more than 30% so far in 2005, according to director Dr Irfan Ahmad.
Dubai-based company LOC8 says it has created a product-sourcing guide which will give feedback to advertisers about business leads. The guide will also promote products pictorially rather than in text, in a similar way to a catalogue concept.
