Dabbagh Information Technology (DIT) Group, publishers of English and Arabic technology and lifestyle magazines, is launching a new magazine targeting the GCC's small-medium business sector. Titled 'Your Business,' the magazine will provide information, practical advice, and sound business strategies. The first issue will hit the stands in October 2007.
Investors in Kuwait's Takhayal Entertaiment have pulled funding from 24-hour food channel Fatafeat TV and music channel Much Music Arabia, reported Khaleej Times. The move comes as Takhayal investors have dumped TV and radio assets to focus on industries with a quicker return on investments. MuchMusic is off the air and Fatafeat will be soon if it does not find other investors, the company says.
Fifth Ring Integrated Corporate Communications has made five additions to its Dubai office. Nicola Gregson has been appointed to head up the PR department, while Jyotsna Ravishankar has joined the PR team as a Senior Account Manager. Fifth Ring has also appointed an Account Executive, a Production Assistant and a Designer.

Zee TV's Dubai based property and lifestyle show Habitat, which focuses on real estate development, design and home financing across the Middle East, is now being shown on its UK channel. The programme first aired in Britain on August 12 and it is being broadcast at 10.00pm on Sunday evenings, with a repeat showing, also on Sundays, at 8.30am. The programme will reach 200,000 UK subscribers.

Emirati filmmaker Masoud Amr Allah Al Ali has said this year's Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF), which takes place in December, will aim to introduce more alternative cinema to the city, as opposed to the usual fare of mainstream blockbusters, reported Gulf News. Al Ali added that of the various films showing 58 will either have been made by Arabs or will concern Arab issues.

The Qatar Public Transport Company, Mowasalat, is to distribute more than 10,000 copies of its magazine, Masaart, in taxis, buses and limousines, reported The Peninsula. The publication will be available in both Arabic and English and will essentially provide information about the company's services.
Dubai Media City announced the successful trial launch of DVB-H Mobile TV with 12 channels for the first time in the UAE. DVB-H is a new mobile TV technology which will allow users to receive high quality broadcast through their mobile handsets. The service is currently being tested by 500 active mobile users.
Dubai Municipality has chosen PR Newswire to spread news and information about CODEPEC, the international conference it organises next year on coastal and port engineering in developing countries. PR Newswire has recently launched services in Dubai.

Dubai-based Fatafeat TV, the first 24-7, free-to-air food channel in the Middle East, will go off the air by the end of the month unless new investors come in, reported Khaleej Times. Its Kuwaiti financiers abruptly pulled out their investments from Takhayal Entertainment, which rolled out the show six months ago.

Dubai based Al Aan TV is launching a new cookery based game show called Jahze Lel Jaze at the start of Ramadan, which commences in September. The 35 minute programme will be presented by Cynthia Karam and will be broadcast on Wednesday and Saturday evenings throughout Ramadan at 11.15pm UAE time.

The Dubai International Film Festival is asking Arab film-makers to submit their entries to the second annual Muhr Awards for Excellence in Arab Cinema by August 31. The competition covers the feature, documentary and short film categories. The awards have a total prize fund of $325,000 and last year there were more than 250 entries.

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority has launched a crackdown on illegal advertising hoardings and billboards. The RTA has so far removed 30 boards which either cause a hazard to motorists or pedestrians or which have been fixed without first obtaining the necessary documentation. Around 160 more boards are set to be taken down.

Telco operator du has confirmed a radio advertisement in the UAE which featured the British national anthem will be withdrawn permanently, according to Gulf News. It was reported last week that the ad, which involved a man singing an order for fish and chips, had offended British listeners. Since the ad was pulled, however, a number of British expats have said it was 'fun' and people should 'lighten up'.

Three new television channels will be offered to Orbit subscribers, the leading pay-TV in the Middle East, as of 15 August 2007. These new channels include America Plus +2, Super Comedy +2 and Cinema City + 1.
