Israeli authorities have closed down a Palestinian pirate radio station in the West Bank that was supposedly disrupting communications at Ben Gurion International Airport causing flights to be cancelled and delayed, reported the Dow Jones newswires citing the BBC. Israel's Ministry of Communication said that it had closed down 50 pirate radio stations so far this year.
Dubai Studio City has said a number of Hollywood based film makers and studios are looking into setting up bases at DSC, reported the local WAM news agency. The interest follows the showcasing of the city's facilities at the recent Cannes Film Festival where DSC officials held a number of meetings with representatives of international production companies.

Abu Dhabi has set up company to run its media interests across radio, television and print, the local WAM news agency reported. Abu Dhabi TV and Sports TV, Abu Dhabi Radio, Emirates FM Radio, Holy Quran Radio, Al Ittihad newspaper and Al Khaleej magazine will be transferred to the new general joint stock company.

The BBC World Service will be broadcast in English in Bahrain from Thursday, Gulf Daily News reported. Manama-based BBC 101FM will broadcast English-language programmes 24 hours a day. The new service complements the established BBC Arabic broadcasts on BBC 103.8FM.
Armed men broke into the Gaza City offices of Palestinian press agency Palmedia on Tuesday making off with a computer and television editing equipment, AFP reported. No one was injured and there was no immediate claim of responsibility. Meanwhile, kidnapped BBC journalist Alan Johnston is spending his 13th week in captivity in Gaza.

Qatar Media Services has unveiled a new logo to mark its merger with France's JCDecaux. QMS will expand its reach by setting up offices in North Africa. The company is the media representative for Al Jazeera, Qatar TV and Qatar Radio.
Real Networks' latest media player will enable users to save internet video to view later one, Reuters reports. A "download this video" button will appear next to video on different websites when RealPlayer is running. Users can download multiple videos at the same time, including formats such as Flash, Windows Media and QuickTime.
Taj Television has built its second digital broadcast studio in Dubai. The studio has 3,000 sqft of floor space with production control and audio control rooms. Channels using Taj TV's first studio include ART's Prime Sports, City 7, Al Aqariya, I2, and Citruss.

The Dow Jones media group could consider a $5bn bid from Rupert Murdock's News Corporation, according to reports. Dow Jones is 64% owned by the Bancroft family, which said it would study the bid as well as any rival offers. US-listed shares in the group closed 14.8% higher on the news. Dow Jones owns the Wall Street Journal and other newspaper titles.
Kidnapped BBC reporter Alan Johnston has appeared in a video posted on an Islamic militant website. It shows the first pictures of the journalist since he was abducted in Gaza on 12 March 2007. In the video, Johnson says he is being treated well. It was posted by a group that calls itself the Army of Islam, which repeated its demand for Britain to free Muslim prisoners, particularly the Islamist cleric Abu Qatada.
