Jordan-based Arab Telemedia Productions has announced the signing of a cooperation agreement with Traccs Jordan for Public Relations. Under the agreement, Traccs will devise public relations plans for the company within its communication strategy, following state of the art international public relations standards.
Qatar Telecom has said it has added to its Mozaic TV+ service a full range of entertainment from Pehla TV, a selection of Indian movies, serials, music, and live telecast of cricket series, the Gulf Times has reported. Pehla TV will be available free for Prime Asia subscribers for one month, the company has said. Mozaic TV+ customers who subscribe to the Prime Asia package as their chosen basic option will be able to access a Pehla Basic, Silver or Gold package, Qtel has noted.
The merging of Orbit and Showtime, which resulted in an offer of 75 premium channels, is now available on one smart card on Nilesat. The new company is now offering first run movies, international sports, Western, Arabic, and Filipino entertainment programs effective August 14. Existing customers will be able to maintain their current package and price or can upgrade to receive the wider choice of channels.

Kuwait-based publisher Teshkeel Media Group and Keetaa, a China-based mobile comic content aggregator and service provider, have announced they will develop and distribute THE 99 children's entertainment mobile content, in China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao. Under the agreement, Keetaa will make available THE 99's mobile e-comics, wallpapers, screensavers, messages, ringtones, and menu themes to all the leading mobile operators in China and through them to the more than 700 million mobile phone users in the world's largest mobile market.
Ahmad Abdullah Al Shaikh, Sheikh Mohammad's media aide and the Managing Director of Dubai Media Inc., has announced that Dubai's five TV channels will soon be upgraded to high-definition transmission, Gulf News has reported. The new system will enable viewers to watch programmes with a view up to 10 times clearer than the analogue system that was used before, he has said.

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has served 130 notices to companies that illegally placed commercial adverts misusing the right of way, Emirates Business has reported. The violations include leaving advert spaces unutilized, malfunctioning power generators and signboards failing to match the specifications. 'The RTA will continue the campaign against violators through issuing circulars to advertising companies exhorting them not to leave advert spaces unutilized and to place their logos in case such spaces have yet to be leased' the RTA said.

Arab Motors, an automotive TV channel, has said that its recent launch comes in response to the needs of a wide motorsport fan base in Saudi Arabia and the UAE. The channel offers the very first 'Virtual Automotive Market' that is specialised in automotive trading, according to Mousub Shashaa, marketing manager of Arab Motors. Arab Motors is carried by the Atlantic Bird 4A satellite at 7.2° west.
Kuwait Projects Company (Kipco) has announced the successful completion of the merger between its Pay-TV operator Showtime and Orbit's Pay-TV unit. The deal involved the merging of the Showtime and Orbit businesses to create 'the region's largest Pay-TV operator' and came into effect from July 31.
Fairwood Music (Arabia), a music publishing company in the Middle East & North Africa, has signed an exclusive sub-publishing agreement with EMI Music Publishing. The deal marks the first time that EMI Music Publishing has contracted with a sub-publisher based in the Middle East. Under the terms of the deal, Fairwood will actively pitch EMI Music Publishing repertoire for synchronization uses including TV, film and advertising, as well as working with EMI to establish a mechanical and performance licensing framework in the UAE.

The Jeddah office of Lebanon-based network LBC has been shut down by the Saudi Arabian authorities following the airing of an interview with a Saudi citizen who described his sexual exploits on air. Saudi daily Al Watan said that the network had also had other offices shut down by the authorities. The Ministry of Culture and Information said that the office had been closed as the broadcaster was operating without a license.
French advertising group Publicis, the world's fourth-largest ad group, has said it would buy the digital advertising agency Razorfish from Microsoft for $530m, AP has reported. The software giant will, after the sale of Razorfish, hold 3% of the capital of Publicis, thus becoming one of its main shareholders, Publicis has said. Razorfish will continue to operate under its brand name.
Abu Dhabi Sports Channels, which had secured the exclusive Middle East broadcasting rights for the English Premier League (EPL) football matches, has said that its monthly subscription 'will be within the reach of the public,' according to Emirates Business. The regional sports TV channel says that it has contracted a number of football experts to present, analyse and provide commentary on the games, Mohammed Najib, Head of Abu Dhabi Sports Channel has said. The group has contracted the rights to broadcast the EPL for three years, beginning in August 2010.

AME info has been named the most successful business focused internet site in the Middle East to target UAE-based consumers. A report by OOX looked at 75 websites during the second quarter of this year and found that among business sites, AME Info had the highest number of adverts focusing on the UAE. The site came third overall in the Middle East, when consumer sites were also included. Explaining the company's findings to Media Week, Fouad Bedran, co-managing director of OOX, said the monitoring service was important for agencies because it helps them design 'more intelligent media plans'.

According to a report in Media week, it beat off four competitors to win the account, and will look after the Bahrain-based airline's local and regional activities. Gulf Air is estimated to spend $10m a year on advertising.
