  • Europe looking towards new year highs

  • US markets enjoyed another positive week, helped by reassuring economic data. In Europe, the markets rose sharply at the end of the week, boosted by mergers and acquisitions rumours. Technically, the upward trend should continue in the US, while in Europe, markets seem very bullish and new year highs could soon be achieved.

  • US, European bourses lose ground

  • US markets were under last pressure last week due to concerns over rising inflation levels. Stocks from the utilities, real estate and consumer durables sectors fared worst. In Europe, rising interest rates also dented market performance, with exchanges losing ground week-on-week. Caution is advised on both sides of the Atlantic.

  • US markets had a positive week, after being boosted by better than expected results from mergers and acquisitions activity. The S&P 500 had its best weekly performance in more than a month. European markets were flat last week. Continued upward movement is expected across both European and US exchanges.

  • US markets end run of gains

  • US markets dropped this week bringing to an end their longest run of weekly gains since 2004. The major averages closed slightly down overall, but respectable gains were achieved on Friday thanks to acquisition activity. European bourses suffered a limited correction. Technically, things look positive in the US and Europe, with the latter's indexes poised to hit new year highs.

  • US markets had another positive week helped by re-assuring economic data, with the Dow Jones and S&P500 reaching historical highs. European markets finished the week strongly and most of the major indices hit new year highs. Upward movement is expected on both sides of the Atlantic.

It was also a positive week in Europe with the Cac, Dax, AEX and FTSE seeing solid gains. Indicators remain positive on both sides of the Atlantic.

US markets remain bullish while a rebound can be expected in Europe.
