Citibank, free extra cards

Citibank UAE is offering three free supplementary cards for loved ones this month. Also the first year fees for Silver cards are down to Dhs125 and the Gold card is Dhs250. The Citidollar rewards programme also allows points to be collected for gifts from the reward's catalogue.

Gold above USD384 an ounce

Gold prices continue to climb with London prices up from USD381.50 to close at USD384.20 yesterday. Partly this reflects the fall in the US dollar this week against the Yen and Euro. But the yellow metal is also a traditional hedge against financial market instability.

Kuwait, personal loans rise

Personal credit and loans by Kuwaiti banks was up from USD8.6bn to USD10.1bn in the year to end of August, reported the Central Bank of Kuwait. Personal loans accounted for 38 per cent of total lending facilities. Bank deposits in the same period were up by 11.2 per cent to USD61.6bn.

USD400 gold price imminent

Gold prices could top USD400 per ounce before the end of the year, according to many traders. With the yellow metal now at USD375 that hardly seems an ambitious target now.
