Indian expatriates in Oman will now be able to avail of insurance cover from one of India's most popular providers, Life Insurance Co. (LIC), which has appointed Muscat-based Gulf Insurance Agencies as its chief agent in the sultanate. Both will work towards forming a local joint venture company.
Shares offers in Oman Cement and Oman Flour Mills have been heavily oversubscribed. The offer was open to both local and international investors. Government shares in Oman Cement worth USD20.5m have been oversubscribed by almost three times to USD56m. The government's offloading of it USD11m shares Oman Flour Mills saw a 100 per cent oversubscription, said issue managers Bank Muscat and Fincorp.
Dubai Bank's credit card members are entitled to free life and household insurance of up to USD33,700. In the unlikely event of death under any circumstances of a card member, the next of kin receives an immediate payment of USD27,000 for gold member and USD13,500 for silver, said Ricky Madan vice-president.

Pakistan government wil come out with a share offering of another 3.2 per cent stake in National Bank of Pakistan. The government has so far sold a 20 per cent stake in the bank which has the biggest asset base among banks in Pakistan. The offer will be on the Karachi Stocks Exchange.
Smart credit card holders of ABN Amro Bank have been offered the facility to defer the payment of their credit card bill by one month. The promotion is aimed primarily at those who may have just come back from their annual vacations or those who might be planning to travel.

ABN Amro Smart credit card holders have the option of an interest free payment plan on purchases made at Ikea. The offer which ends on October 13, is valid on all purchases of over USD270. The Smart Payment Plan gives the shoppers a chance to pay back for purchases in six fixed instalments at zero per cent interest.

Those who pay for tickets and travel packages through their NBO credit card, can avail of a range of benifits such as discounts on worldwide car hire rates, reduced rates for travel insurance and emergency services for travel arrangements.
Dubai Bank credit cardholders can now access cash at Emarat filling stations 24-hours and seven days a week. It will start with four stations near Port Rashid, opposite Dubai Cinema, near Safestway and opposite Home Centre in Sharjah. There are plans to extend the service to all Emarat stations across the country.

A legal expert has clarified that an Indian who is no longer employed in the Gulf or has stopped his business, has to convert his Foreign Currency Non-Resident (FCNR) or Non-Resident Rupee (NRE) accounts into Resident Foreign Currency accounts in India. But he can continue to operate his foreign bank accounts, said HP Raina in Khaleej Times.
