The Pakistan Social Centre Sharjah has started implemening an insurance cover for members. Heirs will receive USD3,000 in the event of a member's demise. The scheme was announced in April and is freely available to all paying members. The annual membership fee is USD30.

Standard Charted Bank is offering its new MasterCard credit card holders in the UAE a discount of up to 15 per cent on British Airways flights to London, or to over 100 destinations across the UK, Europe, U.S. and Canada. The bank said all new primary MasterCard holders will receive a discount voucher valid for travel before March 31, 2004.

The UAE's Osool has introduced a Murabaha car and vehicle financing product which is fully compliant with Sharia Law. Osool first purchases the car and then sells the vehicle to the intending buyer for an agreed upon profit margin. This allows Muslim customers to finance a car without recourse to interest payments.
