Move cash out of US dollar
Foreign exchange experts advise individuals not to keep their spare cash in US dollar deposits. Standard Chartered Bank expects further dollar weakness over the next year, with the euro, yen and sterling heading higher, although the Swiss franc may not be so strong.
Air Miles, monster rewards
The UAE's Air Miles discount card scheme is offering monster rewards worth over USD1,000 each in five prize draws. Members who use their cards before December 31 will be automatically entered. The prizes comprise a loaded credit card from HSBC, KLM tickets and other benefits.

While gold may be a traditional hedge against uncertainty, buyers in Abu Dhabi have been put off by soaring prices. Retailers told Gulf News sales were down by 30 per cent on last year. They said this situation was unlikely to change for at least six months.
Eid holiday dash for cash
UAE consumers have been queuing up at ATM terminals to ensure they have enough cash to last the unprecedented five-day Eid Al Fitr holiday. However, banks remained adamant that cash would be replenished throughout the holidays and said there was no need to panic.

Spend Dhs100 with your American Express card in the UAE this Ramadan and you have the chance to win flights with Air France, a mobile phone or hotel accomodation. There is also a contribution to local and global charities from Amex, and a free entry in the City That Cares prize draw.
Mashreqbank, pre-DSF promotion
Mashreqbank will be giving away USD2.4m in the MashreqMillionaire draw in the month from December 15 to January 15, the starting day of the Dubai Shopping Festival. All certificates bought on or before December 7 will be eligible for 389 cash prizes including the USD950,000 grand prize on January 15.
NBD, FIFA card for youth
The National Bank of Dubai has launched the Ajial pre-paid MasterCard to celebrate its sponsorship of the Emirates 2003 FIFA World Youth Championship. This pre-paid card will target youth aged between 15-21 and is accepted at 2.5m outlets around the world.
Daman UAE fund lower
The Daman UAE Value Fund has announced a 0.8 per cent fall in net asset value in the month to end of October. But year-to-date the fund is up 25.82 per cent. Fund managers said last month was one of consolidation in the UAE bourse ahead of the release of quarterly earnings reports.
EFS promotes UAE equity fund
Emirates Financial Services, part of Emirates Bank International, is promoting its Emirates Equity Fund, the largest and first UAE mutual fund which has a current net asset value of USD88m. The EEF has achieved a 20 per cent return in the past 18 months, and offers weekly subscription with monthly liquidity.
Emerging markets, record inflows
Emerging market equity funds are on pace this year to exceed the record year for total inflows of USD10.89 billion set in 1996, according to EmergingPortfolio.com. The pace of inflows slowed, however, in the week ending November 12 as these funds absorbed USD104.1 million in assets after averaging about USD590 million per week over the previous four weeks.
Visa, half-price Damas diamonds
Visa is offering to pay half the price of diamond jewellery bought from the Damas Pavilion between 10am and midnight in a special promotion. The pavilion is at Deira City Centre on November 22, Marina Mall in Abu Dhabi on the 24, and starts in the Sahara Centre, Sharjah, November 19.
Dubai Municipality, e-payments
The Dubai Municipality now offers a payments gateway online, allowing the payment of fourteen services over the Internet with Visa or MasterCard or an e-Dirham smart card. Four more services, including parking fines will be added shortly.
ABN Amro, Smart Traveller Card
ABN Amro has launched a MasterCard targeted at the business traveller in the UAE, the Smart Traveller Card, with a Dhs400 fee for new clients and Dhs200 to exisiting customers. Travel insurance, discounts on Thai Airways and Alitalia, frequent flyer points, and hotel discounts are among many benefits.
