Dubai Investment subsidiary Emirates Glass has been awarded the contract to supply 10,000 square metres of glass for The Gate, the landmark building of the Dubai International Financial Centre. The Dubai Mall, the largest shopping mall in the world, will open in November 2006. The 5m sq ft mall will be built adjacent to the Burj Dubai, set to be the tallest building in the world. Building material prices are recording sharp increases following a sudden hike in freight rates and short supplies due to heavy demand from Iraq, reported Khaleej Times.
