Nakheel delegation to visit USA
- Top officials from Dubai-based real estate developer Nakheel are scheduled to visit the United States on 22 August to meet with a number of top US developers and investors seeking investment opportunities in Dubai, according to a press statement. Leading Nakheel on this visit to Los Angeles will be the company's CEO, Chris O'Donnell, and its Director of Sales, Marketing and Customer Service, Manal Shaheen, who will be accompanied by a team of company professionals.

Timelinks to unveil 'city of the future'
- Dubai-based Timelinks, an environmental design company, has announced that it will unveil a 'city of the future' at the upcoming Cityscape Dubai which takes place from 6-9 October 2008. The city - called the Ziggurat project - will be in the shape of a futuristic pyramid which, according to Timelinks, could support an entire community of up to one million people by harnessing the power of nature. Timelinks has patented the design and technology incorporated into the project and has applied to the European Union for a grant for technical projects.

Emaar launches Mushrif Heights
- Emaar Properties has unveiled an eco-friendly initiative located near Al Awir and is in close proximity to Mushrif Park. Mushrif Heights, an integrated community focused on sustainable development features will be built around green hills and spread over 44 million sqft. The Dhs12bn project will villa and town home communities and low-rise towers with homes featuring Moorish-style architectural elements.

Corporate Towers excavation done
- Hydra Properties said it has completed the excavation work for Hydra Corporate Towers located at Al Reem Island in Abu Dhabi. The project is being constructed by Tafseer Contracting Company while National Engineering Bureau acts as the engineering consultancy, and eyes completion by September 2011.

Dubai Lagoon investors seek refund
- Some investors in Dubai Lagoon have had their request for a refund turned down in spite of construction work being frozen since May this year, The National has reported. In a note sent to an investor, developer Schon Properties said that refund is granted only for those who invested earlier than 2006. The company has blamed soaring cost of cement and steel as well as the planned motorway through the Dubai Investment Park as Dubai Roads and Transport Authority froze all developments in the area.

- Al Fara'a Properties has announced its plans to invest within Dubai Waterfront and Dubai Maritime City worth Dhs10bn in the second half of 2008. Al Fara'a Properties has pledged its support for the 'Blue Communities', a model that effectively manages building communities within the coastal areas.

Deyaar appoints new CEO
- Deyaar Development has appointed Markus Giebel as the company's new Chief Executive Officer. Giebel has served as the former CEO and member of the Board of Directors since 2004 of Vedera Capital, a UAE-based investment firm specialising in real estate and financial services.
