Second Emaar Art Symposium

Mall of the Emirates site tour

The Mall of the Emirates has invited over 500 retailers on-site to see the mall's progress first hand. They were impressed with the magnitude and progress of the site. Following the site tour, a trade show was organised to introduce retailers to consultants, including designers, fit-out contractors and architects.

Enoc, Eppco, DSF raffle draws

Kuwait has announced that its first International Consumers Festival will be held in February. Organisers the Kuwait International Fair Company said 150 local and foreign companies had confirmed participation in the fair at the Mishref grounds.

Dubai Jazz event, ELO on stage

The third Philips Dubai International Jazz Festival will feature 70 musicians and take place from February 2-4 in the Dubai Media Lake Park. The organisers expect to increase attendance this year from 18,000 to 25,000, and the finale will include original members from the Electric Light Orchestra.

DSF to set world records

The Dubai Shopping Festival 2005 is expected to enter the Guinness Book of World Records with a new Dubai World Records Venture Day on February 8 in the Creek Park. There will be an attempt to assemble the largest ever number of men called Mohammed in one place, and other record attempts.

Jacky's new look in Dubai

Jacky's Electronics is upgrading its Dubai stores with a facelift. Phase one at the Airport Road showroom is already complete. The Deira City Centre showroom is next in line for complete renovation which will be ready in time for the Dubai Shopping Festival 2005.

ARY manages DSF amphitheatre

DDF posts record daily sales

Dubai Duty Free's 21st anniversary on December 20 signaled a new milestone with daily sales rocketing to a record USD3.1m. The anniversary day sales far surpassed the previous daily record of USD2m set just days before on December 17. MD Colm McLoughlin said sales transactions totaled over 45,000.

Dubailand, World for Women

Dubailand has announced a unique new project called Lemnos - a high luxury world dedicated to women. Al Muntaser Holding will develop the project. An agreement was signed today by Dubailand CEO Salem bin Dasmal and Sheikh Alal Al Fase and Sheikh Muntaser Al Fase to create a World for Women at Dubailand.

Al Madani rolls out Charley's

Dubai's Al Madani Group is to roll out the US franchise restaurant chain Charley's across the UAE and is also looking at other Gulf markets for which it has the first option, reported Gulf News. Over the last three years Al Madani has expanded to operate 30 stores including Levi's, Dockers and Hang Ten.

UAE based Jumbo Electronics has opened its 24th store in the BurJuman shopping mall extension, This 2,100 sqft store features modern stands and designs with a completely new look and feel, said COO Arvind Nair. Jumbo is the Sony Gulf agent in the UAE.

Retail foundation, UAE youth

A new foundation called Aswaq aims to attract young UAE nationals to the retail sector. Aswaq is to create 10 new outlets in Dubai neighbourhoods. Young nationals can either establish their own retail projects through Aswaq, or buy shares in the Aswaq operating company, reported Gulf News.
