The Dubai Autodrome's Dubai Motorsport Festival is to take place from November 15-17. The programme of events will include the Dubai debut of the Speedcar Series which features former F1 drivers Jean Alesi and Johnny Herbert. The festival will also contain the FIA GT3 European Championship and the Formula Campus Renault French Championship.

The Eros Group, a consumer electronics retailer, is aiming to open five showrooms before the end of 2007, with an investment worth around $9.5m, reported Gulf News. Eros presently has 23 showrooms located across the UAE and the five new outlets will be established in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Dubai. CEO Deepak J. Babani said the firm is hoping to have 50 outlets by the end of next year.

Fitness First UAE has opened a new 19,000 sqft facility at the Dubai International Financial Centre. There are several other Fitness First centres in Dubai: at the Ibn Battuta Mall, Uptown Mirdiff, Dubai Festival City and the BurJuman Centre. The DIFC branch will hold an open day from 9am until 8pm on Wednesday, August 15.

The Dubai Multi Commodities Centre has appointed Jumeirah Retail, part of the Jumeirah Group, and Dubai Duty Free as authorised distributors for the 'Visions of Dubai' series of souvenir gold coins which will go on sale next month. The coin will feature Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on one side and the Burj Al Arab on the other.

An organisation has been set up to govern Dubai's developing direct selling sector, reported Gulf News. The Direct Selling Educational Institute will create a regulatory framework for government approval, set professional standards and work to promote the industry. Leading firms such as Avon and Forever Living Products are already operating in the city but many more are expected to set up to take advantage of Dubai's expanding wealthy population.

Muscat City Centre's dedicated fly-over is now operational connecting visitors to its multi-storey car park directly from the Sultan Qaboos Highway. The new road will ease access for shoppers coming from Muscat as well as those approaching the mall from Bausher and the Al Sahwa roundabout. The car park has space for 2,000 cars and covers 870,000 sqft.
Lamcy Plaza and the HSBC have launched a 'Back to School' promotion which will see scholarships totalling Dhs50,000 handed out. Customers who spend an unspecified minimum amount on school items at the mall by September 15 will be entered into a draw in which five students will each win a Dhs10,000 scholarship. Shoppers who use their HSBC credit cards to make the purchases will have a higher chance of winning.

Gitex Shopper, the annual consumer electronics event in Dubai which takes place September 6-12, is aiming to achieve sales of around $27.2m, a 15% spike on last year's figure, reported Gulf News. Pankaj Nadkarni, Project Manager at the event, said a wider product range and increased floor space at the Airport Expo venue were key factors in the possible lift in sales.

Starlink, Qatar's premier telecommunications and media entertainment retailer is marketing the electronic services for Qatar Telecom products throughout Qatar with the signing of the Al Meera Cooperative. Starlink will provide e-voucher solutions to retail outlets in Qatar.
After claims Aquafina water comes from tap water, the company said in a media open day at the Dibba Aquafina plant that the water comes from underground natural reservoir, reported Gulf News. Reporters toured the plant and were shown that the water is not connected to a municipality water line.
