Halal fast food chain opens
- Al Islami Foods has launched the UAE's first healthy fast-casual restaurant chain, Al Farooj Fresh. The restaurants will offer wrap sandwiches that no other company offers and will be healthier, the company said. Al Farooj Fresh has started with nine branches and plans to extend into the GCC and Middle East markets.

Dubai plans pearl trading hub at 'The World'
- The Dubai Multi Commodities Centre is setting up a pearl trading centre on the 'Antarctica' island of The World. The centre will have a pearl-themed cultural heritage centre, a performing arts theatre, an exhibition gallery and a themed restaurant alongside boutique shops for leading pearl fashion houses.

Panda, Giant stores to merge
- Savola group's Al Azizia Panda Co chain of supermarkets has agreed to merge with The Giant Stores Co, owned by the Abdul Kadir Al Muhaidib & Sons Group, reported Reuters. Savola will own 80% of the venture, expecting the combined units will have sales of about SR5bn per year. The Giant Stores Co has 20 outlets across Saudi while Al Azizia operates a chain of almost 60 supermarkets and hypermarkets.

Bose opens its 6th UAE store
- Bose, a leading audio brand, is setting up a new retail outlet in the UAE. With the Dubai Festival City outlet, Bose now has six exclusive outlets in the UAE including Mall of the Emirates, Wafi, Mercato, Deira and Marina Mall in Abu Dhabi. Some more outlets in upcoming high end malls are in the pipeline.

Sharaf DG offers 100% consumer finance for customers
- Sharaf DG, an electronics retailer in Dubai, has announced a tie-up with Emirates Bank to provide 100% finance to customers on big-ticket item purchases at the lowest finance cost in the market and with an easy loan re-payment period, the company said. Each Sharaf DG store will have a dedicated Emirates Bank kiosk with experts who will advise on all aspects of consumer finance. The key features of the scheme include instant finance with express approvals, easy loan repayment period of 36 months and minimum documentation.

GE opens new service centre
- GE Sensing and Inspection Technologies opened a $2m dedicated calibration, repair and training service centre in Abu Dhabi at the CERT Technology Park, reported Gulf News. The new facility will serve all Gulf countries outside Saudi Arabia. GE Sensing's products are used in the oil and gas and other industries.
