Hard Rock landmark faces closure
- Hard Rock Cafe in Dubai may face closure or even demolition, reported Gulf News. Hard Rock Cafe management has confirmed that the land it occupies has been sold for the development of a 'high-rise' project. The Cafe located on Shaikh Zayed Road near Dubai Media City was established in December 1997.

DIC buys Asian spa group
- Dubai International Capital paid an undisclosed sum for a significant stake in Singapore-based True Group, which runs a chain of yoga, fitness and spa centres in South East Asia. The True Group operates 17 outlets and has 70,000 members in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Taiwan and now plans to expand to 100 outlets over the coming five years.

Interiors UAE opens today
- Interiors UAE, a brand new event for the interiors and furnishing sector, is set to open today in Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre until April 2. The event is open for both the contract and retail market. A seminar on 'Living with Art' is also being organized, as well as an interior design competition.

Corporate Mall sells 75% of space
- Fortune Group announced its high-end retail offering-the Corporate Mall, which will be located in Burj Al Alam has sold out 75% of its 313,000sq.ft retail space. The exclusive mall targets the retail demand, which is expected in Business Bay community once ready for occupancy.

Co-ops to import commodities
- The Ministry of Economy has said cooperative societies can directly import 15 commodity foodstuffs, cutting out the middlemen and reducing costs. The list includes staples such as powdered and condensed milk, frozen and canned vegetables, chicken, oil, rice, flour, fish and meat products, tea, coffee, cheese, pasta, sugar, baby food and formula and nappies (diapers). The Ministry hopes it will help stabilise food prices.

Fitness spend to double
- People in the Middle East spend more than $74bn a year on health and wellness, and that figure is predicted to double over the next two years. But while gym goers have doubled in the UAE, that number still represents just 7% of the population, compared with 30% elsewhere.

Papa John's now in Jordan
- American pizza chain Papa John's has opened its branch in Sweifieh, Amman. The branch is operating under the management of Jordanian American Food Company. Papa John's has been operating in the Middle East since 2000 and has stores as well in Kuwait, Egypt, Oman, Bahrain and Qatar.
