Abu Dhabi 2030: The blueprint
Abu Dhabi's Vision 2030 is a government-backed development plan for the emirate that sets guidelines for key infrastructure, real estate, tourism and financial targets for the next 20 years, as the city aims to assert its place as a global hub and capital of the UAE federation. The initiatives are planned to fuel GDP growth of 7% until 2015, and 6% for the following 15 years.
Building the capital of the future
Abu Dhabi is in the enviable position of being able to take advantage of its financial surplus and undeveloped surrounding area to design and implement a step-by-step path to the city that it wants to become. The emirate's Plan 2030 has put in place guidelines, regulating public and private partnerships, which will allow the city's Urban Planning Council to coordinate and oversee developments across all sectors.
The road to 2030
Abu Dhabi may be known for its vast oil supplies, but it also appears to have plenty of ambition in reserve. The emirate's 'Economic Vision 2030' report outlines long-term targets for several sectors of the economy, but the proposed changes to its infrastructure and transport systems are perhaps the most substantial and far reaching.
Abu Dhabi plans tourism makeover
The Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030 contains a comprehensive plan to diversify the emirate's economy and achieve strong economic growth by developing the capital's non-oil sector. Among the sectors that have been specifically targeted to drive non-oil economic growth in the emirate is tourism.
Education: Preparing for tomorrow
The United Arab Emirates has been successful at bringing in some of the most prestigious names in education and the trend looks to continue under Abu Dhabi's plans for 2030. With NYU (New York University) Abu Dhabi just one of the big name facilities set to opens its door in the near future it is clear that the emirate is willing to invest heavily in bringing up the standard of education available to nationals and residents.
