IHG plans 3rd Dubai Crowne Plaza
- InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has signed an agreement with The Chelsea Group to develop a third Crowne Plaza hotel in Dubai. The hotel will be located in Business Bay and is scheduled to open in 2010. The hotel will comprise of about 367 rooms.

Mövenpick picks El Sokna
- As part of its expansion strategy in Egypt, Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts has signed a management agreement for a 5-star holiday resort in El Sokhna, scheduled to open in June 2008. The Mövenpick Resort El Sokhna will be located in a 62-acre El Ein Resort Village, directly on the shores of the Red Sea with its own private beach.

Cruise ships dock in Dubai
- The Dubai Cruise Terminal in Port Rashid Complex has received cruise ships Pacific Princess and The World, carrying a total of 579 passengers including crew members. The cruise leaves the passengers in Dubai to exchange with others as most of them make one-way through air.

Saudi aims to triple tourism revenues
- Saudi Arabia hopes to almost triple revenues from domestic tourism by 2010, to SR101.3bn from SR35.6bn today. It also want to push massive employment growth in the sector, targeting 1.5 million jobs by 2025 compared to 342,000 today. Of that, 32% will be Saudi nationals. In 2006 tourism made up 3% of the kingdom's gross domestic product.

Gulf Hotel gets $21m investment
- Gulf Hotels Group is investing BD8m ($21.2m) on hotel facilities in Bahrain. It will build a multi-storey car park with over 600 bays and 7,000 sq/m of office space next to the Gulf Hotel in the kingdom. Currently the hotels suffers from a lack of available parking when busy. It also wants to tap into the growing demand for office space. Work will start in April and is expected to take just over a year.

Six Senses sets up in Evason Ma'in
- Six Senses Resorts & Spa announced it is refurbishing Evason property's Ma'in Hot Springs in Jordan to become its latest purpose-built Six Senses Spa complex. Ma'in Hot Springs was originally constructed in the 1980's, and is currently undergoing a $12m make-over to convert it to an Evason. The facility is set to re-open in late 2008.

Doha expects 22 new hotels
- Qatar Tourism Authority said a total of 22 new hotels will be opened this summer and over the next four years, cited The Peninsula. Qatar expects more than $100bn in infrastructure and investment projects will be completed by 2012 from Four Seasons, Hyatt, Hilton, Inter-Continental and other multinational hotel corporations.

Raffles Dubai gears up business
- Raffles Dubai has hired Al Basel Consultancy, a consultancy firm and a member of Al Basel Group, aimed at boosting Raffles Dubai's business portfolio in the Middle East. The partnership will look into general business consultations, partnership opportunities, market consultancy, advising on marketing tools, consultations to sell or buy shares, targeting important GCC events, and advice in all aspects of Raffles Dubai's business including segmenting the right agents for businesses from abroad.
