  • Rezidor launces 50th hotel in MEAO region

  • The Rezidor Hotel Group has announced its 50th property in operation or under development in the MEAO-region (Middle East, Africa & Others). The latest offering from the Sweden-based hotel group is the Radisson Dubai Trade Centre District, a 450-room property scheduled to open end of 2011. 'Our pipeline in this area now features almost 13,000 rooms, and we are having 8 hotels in Dubai alone', said Kurt Ritter, President & CEO of Rezidor.

  • Abu Dhabi festival set to open

  • 'Summer in Abu Dhabi', the UAE capital's largest family festival, is set to open on Thursday. Organised jointly by the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority and Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company, the festival will be spread over 13,000 square metres of air-conditioned indoor space and will consist of seven themed entertainment islands - Adventure Island, Action Island, Island of Creativity, Fun Island, Imagination Island, Culture Island and Discovery Island. The event, which will go on until August 18, is expected to bring in hundreds of thousands of visitors, reported Gulf News.

  • IFA offers Kempinski in Lebanon

  • IFA Hotels & Resorts and Kuwait Real Estate Company have launched the Kempinski Residences Alabadiyah Hills serviced apartments. Alabadiyah Hills is comprised of 15 private villas, 30 townhouses and 220 luxury apartments with their own swimming pools and gardens. The development is located in the freehold Alabadiyah Hills resort in Lebanon's Dhour Abadiyah village.

  • Nuzul launches Somerset in Doha

  • Nuzul Qatar has launched its first deluxe serviced apartment venture, the Somerset West Bay, located in Doha's Diplomatic Area. The 200 two and three-bedroom serviced residences are being managed by Ascott International.

  • Meydan Hotel in progress

  • The construction of the Meydan Hotel has reached the eighth floor. Managed by Banyan Tree, the Meydan Hotel is expected to have 10 floors comprising of 278 rooms, with nearly all rooms having a direct unobstructed view of the racetrack.

  • Hilton extends online booking to all customers

  • Hilton Hotels' is extending its online booking facility to all customers as part of a special summer promotion. All customers can now find discounts through Hilton's Personalised Online Group (POG) web portals, at Hilton hotels across the UAE and Oman. The previlige is normally offered only to corporate customers.

  • The Address hotels complete structural work

  • Emaar Hospitality Group has announced progress in developing its first two hotel projects under The Address Hotels & Resorts roster. The Address, Downtown Burj Dubai is over 90% complete and The Address, Dubai Mall also located within Downtown Burj Dubai is 70% complete. The structural work has been finished and cladding and interior fittings are ongoing.

  • Malaysia expects 400,000 tourists from ME

  • Malaysia's Tourism Ministry said it expects 400,000 tourists from the Middle East to visit the country this year, up from 340,000 last year, reported Malaysia's state news agency Bernama. Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said said Malaysia's halal food, extensively promoted in the Middle East, was a draw for tourists from the region, especially the UAE, Syria and Saudi Arabia.
