Massive accident on Dubai-Abu Dhabi highway
- A massive accident involving 31 cars occurred Tuesday morning on the Abu Dhabi to Dubai highway near Ghantoot, reported Gulf News. Police have confirmed that there are fatalities and several injuries but have yet to say how many people were killed.

Bahrain Maritime wins US defense contract
- Bahrain Maritime & Mercantile International, a supplier of shipping services, has won a contract to supply materials to US armed forces in Bahrain, Qatar and Saudi Arabia, reported Bloomberg. The contract to supply and distribute food and non-food products for the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps will conclude a year from today.

Gulf Craft to launch new yachts
- Gulf Craft, the largest yacht and boat manufacturer in the Middle East, will be launching five new boat models at the Dubai International Boat Show on Tuesday. The new additions include the Majesty 77, Majesty 121 and Silver Craft 37 luxury yachts, as well as the latest the latest in their product line, the sport cruisers Oryx 40 fly and 46 fly.

Dubai Bypass Rd Phase 3 opens
- The Roads and Transport Authority has opened the main part of Phase 3 of Dubai Bypass Road. The project is expected for completion in full by end of March to serve as link between the boarders of Sharjah to the boarders of Abu Dhabi.

Sorouh branches into logistics
- Sorouh Real Estate has signed a joint venture with Australian industrial firm Goodman Group as the company expands into running and managing business and logistics parks within the GCC region. Goodman Group's capital injection will be intellectual rather than financial, and six company executives will relocated to Abu Dhabi to help Sorouh run the venture. Profits will be split 50:50.

Jebel Ali to set up oil storage
- The Dubai Multi Commodities Centre has signed an agreement with Star Energy Resources and Tropicana Trading DMCC to build a $200m oil products storage facility at Techno Park in Dubai. The proposed oil storage terminal will have an initial capacity of 570,000 cubi metre to store a wide range of oil products, such as gasoline, gasoil/diesel, jet fuel and fuel oil.

Venture Capital in JV with Lemissoler
- Venture Capital Bank has announced the signing of a joint venture agreement with Lemissoler Shipping Group in Cyprus. Under the agreement, a new company, Lemissoler Maritime Company, will be established in the Kingdom of Bahrain with the objective of acquiring, owning and operating a fleet of commercial vessels. The total value of the deal is $166m, the company said.

Saddam's yacht still in limbo
- A French court has refused to lift a ban on the sale of a super-yacht built for former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein, reported AFP. The 82-metre yacht, which has been impounded on the Riviera as a dispute rages over its ownership, was never actually delivered to Iraq. The Cayman island-based firm Sudeley Limited, part-owned by King Abdullah of Jordan, says it is now the legal owner of the luxury boat, which is equipped with swimming pools, a mosque, a missile-launcher and mini-submarine.
