Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has said it has signed an agreement with Emarat General Petroleum Corp. (Shamil) to provide vehicle testing and licensing services in the emirate. Through this agreement, Shamil will provide all necessary licensing and testing services including traffic file opening, vehicle registration, renewal of number plates retention, transfer of vehicle registration, issue of export certificate, issue of vehicle registration card (lost/damaged), issue of clearance certificate, issue of tourist certificate, alteration of vehicle details and issue of international driving license.
Kuwait's ministry of public works has said that assessment of all phases of the Boubyan seaport project is underway, in order to determine the suitable number of docks the port needs, Kuna has reported. The project consists of four phases, with the first currently underway and includes establishing infrastructure, landscaping, soil treatment and other technicalities.
Kuwait-based Agility Logistics is optimistic that it will end the dispute with the US Ministry of Defence over the pricing of food commodities of one of the contracts, Al-Watan Daily has reported, citing sources close to the firm. The financial value of the points of contention of over pricing is around $65m, which is 'is not worthy when compared to the value of the contract,' the sources were quoted as saying.

"We still don't know if we will open them all at once or over a period, but they will be open by the end of February," said Peyman Younes Parham, the rail line's director of marketing and communications.

Bahrain's Khalifa Bin Salman Port will be officially opened next Sunday, Gulf Daily News has reported. The BD136.3m port, which covers 110 hectares of reclaimed land on the kingdom's northeast shore, began operations in April. It provides services to shipping lines and logistic companies. The port has been designed to accommodate a container capacity of more than 1.1 twenty-foot equivalent units annually, in addition to cruise ship facilities and warehouses.
Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafz), a unit of Dubai World, has made a scheduled coupon payment on its Dhs7.5bn sukuk, Reuters has reported. "They paid it, the rate was 4.175%," a source, who asked not to be identified, told the news service. Last week, Dubai World announced it wanted to delay payments on its debt, sending stock markets around the world down. However, today the company issued a statement saying most of the businesses within the holding company, which includes Jafz, were financially stable. Its restructuring, the company said, would focus on property developers Nakheel and Limitless.

Dubai officials say they are pleased with the response to a new scheme that allows motorists to pay for parking by using their mobile phones, reported the National. The mParking scheme, which was launched in May, allows a driver to buy an e-ticket by sending a text message; it costs 30 fils more than a conventional ticket. The number of e-tickets issued has topped more than a quarter of a million, with a daily average of 4,200 at various tariffs, according to Maitha bin Adai, the chief executive of the RTA's Traffic and Roads Agency. There are more than 10,000 registered users in the RTA system.

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) plans to launch the Nol Blue Card this week which targets commuters who use public transport modes frequently and need to recharge their balances, Khaleej Times has reported. Metro and public transport users can apply for the card as of this week either online through Nol Card portal or ticket offices at the Metro stations, the RTA said. The card is valid for use on all integrated public transport modes in Dubai and can be recharged through any channel used for topping-up Nol cards — RTA Customer Service Centres, RTA approved sales agents, Metro and bus stations, and ticket-vending machines installed in various parts of the emirate.

A new Q-Max LNG carrier has been delivered to Nakilat and chartered on long term contract to Qatar Liquefied Gas Company Limited (4), known as QG4, at Samsung Heavy Industries Co shipyard on Geoje Island. The Nakilat owned Q-Max LNG Carrier Shagra (266,000 CBM) will be used to ship LNG produced by QG4, to markets primarily in North America and China, according to a press statement.
Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority has said the Dubai Metro has carried 3,492,175 passengers in two months from the start of operation on 10 stations on the Red Line from September 9 up to November 9. The highest number of passengers was recorded in Mall of the Emirates Station during the two-month period.

Egypt-based HC Brokerage has said it has maintained its 'buy' rating recommendation on Aramex and its target price of Dhs2.28 per share. 'We continue to like Aramex for its solid regional presence, strong management, and asset-light structure that grants operating flexibility and a large cash balance for expansions,' the brokerage firm said.
Construction of a 40km causeway that would connect Qatar to Bahrain will start in the first quarter of 2010, Reuters has reported. Jaber al-Mohannadi, general manager of the Qatar-Bahrain Causeway Foundation, said construction was initially scheduled to start in 2009, but the addition of rail lines delayed the project. The causeway will be ready by 2015, al-Mohannadi told a conference in Abu Dhabi.
Saudi Arabia's national bus company, SAPTCO has confirmed a 20% increase in the number of travellers during the Hajj and Eid holidays compared to last year, Arab News has reported. 'The number of travellers has increased over the past week, which is normal with no availability of airline reservations and people on the move as the holidays begin,' a company supervisor said.
Qatar is set to sign a deal worth $25bn for an integrated railway project with German rail and logistics giant, Deutsche Bahn to be held on Sunday at the Qatari Diar headquarters, The Peninsula has reported. In a separate report, German newspaper Handelsblatt has reported on Friday that Deutsche Bahn had won the contract to build a passenger and freight rail network in Qatar. The newspaper further cited government sources for its story, mentioning industrial group Siemens could be involved in supplying trains and the German building industry in the construction of the rail network.
Dubai's first low cost carrier, Flydubai has signed an agreement with Danzas AEI Emirates, a joint venture between Al Tayer Group and DHL. Under the accord, Danzas will coordinate all Flydubai's logistics requirements. Danzas has facilities in Dubai Cargo Village, Dubai Airport Free Zone, Jebel Ali Free Zone, Dubai Investment Park and Sharjah, and provides transport by ocean, road and air as well as warehousing and distribution services.
