New non-profit project PresentationTube allows teachers and students to produce and share video presentations online

Three months ago, a professor of educational technology, Dr. Alaa Sadik, at Sultan Qaboos University Sultanate of Oman, has developed PresentationTube network as a non-profit project to help local teachers and students produce and share video presentations online.

In a few weeks, the network has attracted thousands of teachers, students, e-learning instructors, virtual presenters, and business professionals from around the world, and users have started to use, produce, and share video presentations in a new way.

The network has two components - a desktop presentation recorder and a video sharing network. The recorder, which can be downloaded from the website for free, uses a simple and straightforward technique to capture presentations from the comfort of home or office and without the need to have an Internet connection or third party software while recording. It synchronizes a variety of visual aids, including presenter's audio and video, PowerPoint slides, drawings, handwritten words, and web content. The network allows presenters to publish their videos and involve the audience via scrollable slide thumbnails, comments, and quizzes.

Online video presentations can be used in regular classrooms, flipped classrooms, home revisions, e-learning courses, blended learning environments, distance education settings, virtual conferences and business orientations. One of most endearing qualities of PresentationTube is its simplicity of use - it would be hard to screw up. And if you are a potential viewer you can easily search the submitted videos for content to use in lectures and see how diverse the selection is. It's easy to see how this network became pretty popular.
