Official launch of Samsung Amman International Marathon next October the 19th

The 2012 Samsung Amman International Marathon (AIM) was launched today at a press conference at the Greater Amman Municipality.
Prince Firas stated after welcoming the press and sponsors: "I am delighted to announce the launch of the 2012 Samsung Amman International Marathon in the company of our AIM Board Members and our major sponsors and supporters. I would particularly like to pay tribute to our title sponsor Samsung for its extraordinary support of this event over the last four years. This event which brings together Jordanians, regional and international runners, young and old, continues to grow and we are very proud of the achievements so far. Our thanks extend to all AIM sponsors, organizers, supporters and volunteers, and we look forward to a very special day on October 19."
At the event, President of Samsung Electronics Levant Mr.Hong said: "At Samsung, we seek to support the Jordanian economy and make a difference in the lives of local communities. We also believe in the importance of sports and youth-based activities for promoting public health and social cohesion. These are the reasons why we have supported AIM in recent years. We look forward to the event with great excitement."
During the press conference, it was announced that the Arab Bank was a golden sponsor for the fourth consecutive year, and that Sama Water was the official water supplier for the marathon. The AIM organizers presented information about the organization of the event including the routes and timings of the different races - and the expected number and categories of participants.
General Manager of AIM, explained that there would be three races: the 42.195 km race, starting at 6 am from Greater Amman Municipality; the 10 km Fun Race, starting at 8:30 am next to the Al-Hussein Sports City and finally the 4 km Kids' Race, starting at 10:30 am from the Greater Amman Municipality. The finishing line for all the races will be next to the Roman Amphi-Theatre in downtown Amman. The AIM award ceremony will be in the Roman Amphi-Theatre itself.
The mission of the organizers is to promote running among Jordanians from all walks of life particularly among the youth and children. By organizing an international competitive marathon in the heart of Amman as well as organizing two shorter distance races, AIM organizers aim to support competitive athleticism, healthy lifestyles, tourism, and participating NGOs.
