Oman Air to launch low-cost carrier

Oman Air has said it is considering a plan to launch a low-cost airline that reduce the travel woes to the South Asian sectors, Oman Daily Observer has reported. "We are aiming at both domestic and international sectors once we get the government approval to operate a budget airline," said Darwish bin Ismaeel al Balushi, minister responsible for financial affairs and chairman of Oman Air. The proposed budget airline is in its final stages of commencement and a feasibility study is being carried out, the results of which will decide the mode of operation of the service, said al Balushi. "Our proposal to begin a budget airline under Oman Air's umbrella was in theory approved by the government and we are waiting for the final approval from the authorities concerned," he said.
