Oman approves tax hike on tobacco products

Oman's health ministry has said the finance ministry has approved raising taxes on all tobacco products sold in the Sultanate, Muscat Daily has reported. The sultanate, along with other GCC states, currently levies 100% importation tax, and the addition will be decided later by a technical committee of the GCC General Secretariat. Tobacco taxes in Oman have remained unchanged since 1999.
