Oman categorises healthcare centres

  • Oman: Thursday, March 07 - 2013 at 06:57

The Omani health ministry has set new working hours for primary healthcare centres, in a bid to streamline services across the country, Muscat Daily has reported. As per the new policy, healthcare centres will have morning (7am-12.30pm), afternoon (12.30pm-9.30pm) and night (9.30pm-7.30am) shifts. The ministry has also categorised health centres in the sultanate. Category A centres includes those based in cities and not equipped with beds. Category B health centres will work round the clock in three shifts and will have physicians available in the morning and afternoon shifts, while category C centres are those located in villages in mountainous terrain, and "due to the topography, the centres here will provide health service only in mornings on a daily basis," the ministry said.
