Oman considering fuel alternatives for power generation
- Oman: Thursday, May 09 - 2013 at 01:12
Oman plans to launch a strategic review of the country's national fuel policy aimed at weighing alternatives to natural gas as the primary fuel resource for the sultanate's electricity generation and associated water production infrastructure, Oman Daily Observer has reported. The review, which will be conducted by the Public Authority for Electricity and Water (PAEW) in association with a number of government stakeholders, comes against the backdrop of projections of a sharp uptrend in gas demand as the country prepares to invest billions more in new projects to feed the growth in demand for electricity and desalinated water.
