Market research firm, Business Monitor International (BMI) has said Oman's annual consumer electronics sales is expected to reach OR280m in 2012, driven by growing sales of smartphones, tablet computers and flat-screen TV sets, Muscat Daily has reported. Handset sales are expected grow by 12% to OR79m ($206m) in 2012, with smartphones on course to account for over 60% of sales, BMI said. Vendors in the Sultanate will rely on innovative products such as tablets, 3D and LED TV sets and feature-rich smartphones to act as demand drivers, with the roll-out of broadband services to smaller towns seen to add to the demand, the report added.
