Oman identifies four locations for mega solar power projects

Oman's Public Authority for Electricity and Water (PAEW) has said four potential locations have been identified for setting up large-scale solar power projects, and that land has been allocated at two of these places, Muscat Daily has reported. Northern Oman was found most feasible for solar power projects, while some parts in the south were found appropriate for wind energy projects, the PAEW said. "Power demand is growing at an annual 8-10 per cent. So we have to think about alternative sources of power and renewable energy is feasible and helps save loads," said assistant chairman for international relations and media at PAEW, Dr Ali bin Hamed al Ghafri.
