Oman industries struggle as more gas supplies "not govt priority"

  • Oman: Monday, September 24 - 2012 at 09:26

Oman India Fertiliser Co (OMIFCO) and Sohar Aluminium are seeking increased gas allocations from the government for their expansion plans, Muscat Daily has reported. The oil and gas ministry, however, said such expansion plans are not the current priority, at least not until the government has secured enough gas resources to support these plans. "Currently expansion is not our priority. We do not want to allow expansion until we have enough gas resources to meet increased demand," said Nasser bin Khamis al Jashmi, undersecretary for the ministry.
