Oman terminates Batinah Expressway contract

Malaysian construction firm WCT Engineering, which in a joint venture with Salalah-based Oman Roads Engineering Co had secured the contract for the Batinah Expressway in Oman, has said the Omani transport ministry has cancelled decided not to proceed with the project, Muscat Daily has reported. The JV was awarded the OR123.2m package 2 contract in August last year. The scope of works then was to build a 44.75km dual four-lanes expressway and the works were expected to be completed in 36 months. The 265km-long Al Batinah Expressway project is divided into six packages.
