Oman Transport Infrastructure Summit launches in Muscat

Held in cooperation with the Oman's Ministry of Transport and Communications, the Sultanate's premier conference on transport infrastructure started in Muscat, featuring presence of some of the leading names in the industry.

The summit opened with a speech by His Excellency Engineer Salem bin Mohammed al Nuaimi, Undersecretary for Roads, Ministry of Transport and Communications who expressed his appreciation of the interest from international and regional companies in the on-going and forthcoming infrastructure development projects within Oman.

Officials from supporting government organisations, including Muscat Municipality, Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Royal Oman Police, as well as foreign diplomats and ambassadors from Germany, USA, Spain, Austria, Korea and top executives from private entities were also in attendance at the event.

More than 140 highly influential decision makers from the regional transport industry have converged in Muscat this week to confer on topics such as: developing Oman's land transportation network; designing and building cost-effective and sustainable roads, tunnels and bridges; and developing an integrated and sustainable transport network to facilitate mobility during the three days.

"The ongoing support for this gathering of transportation industry influencers, from the Ministry of Transport and Communications as well as key government and private sector stakeholders, is a testimony of the recognition the Omani Government puts towards this sector and its importance for the country's economy. The representation of international companies as speakers, sponsors and delegates has significantly increased compared to the previous year, which is highly encouraging, and we are certain this summit provides them with the most beneficial way of doing business," says Symon Rubens, Managing Director of IQPC Middle East, Organiser of the Oman Transport Infrastructure Summit series.
