Passport Note

When applying for a one-year multiple-entry visa, passport must be valid for one year. If applying for a two-year multiple-entry visa, passport must be valid for two years.

To enter Oman, a passport valid for at least six months is required by all nationals referred to in the chart above.

Entry With Children

Single parents, or other adults travelling alone with children, may be required to provide documentary evidence of parental responsibility on entering and leaving the country. To check what is required, contact the nearest Oman embassy.

Visa Note

(a) All nationals referred to in the chart above may apply for a single-entry visa on arrival at Muscat International Airport.
(b) Travellers who have resided in one of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries for at least one year and who hold a valid residence permit and labour card may obtain a tourist visa on arrival, provided they meet certain conditions regarding professional status. Contact embassy/consulate for further details or check the Royal Oman Police website (www.rop.gov.com).
(c) For minors (under 18 years) travelling unaccompanied, a consent letter is required from one of their parents, as well as a photocopy of their father's passport. Minors should apply for a visa in advance.
(d) Nationals not referred to in the chart above are advised to contact the embassy to check visa requirements.

Transit

An air transit visa is granted by an air authority to expatriates and applied for by the airline. It entitles the holder to enter the country only once and stay for a maximum of 72 hours provided they have a valid ticket for onward travel. A road transit visa allows expatriates and nationals from neighbouring countries access for three days. It is valid for two months and costs £10.

Types of Visa and Cost

A single entry tourist visa or business traveller visa, valid for ten days, costs around £9 (5 Rials). A single-entry tourist visa, obtained on arrival and valid for 30 days costs £33 (20 Rials). A multiple-entry visa costs 50 Rials and entitles the holder to stay in the country for up to three weeks on each visit. A cruise visitor visa is free for visits of less than 24 hours and £10 for up to 96 hours. You can also obtain visas in advance via the Oman Embassy in London (www.omanembassy.org.uk/visasection.htm).

Validity

Single-entry: Valid for six months from date of issue, and a ten day or one-month stay from date of entry. Upon expiration of the visa, the holder will be fined 10 Rials for each day of the delay. One year multiple-entry: Valid for three months from date of issue, for a period not less than six months and not more than one year for stays up to three weeks on each visit (cannot be extended). A student visa is valid for one to two years.

Temporary Residence

Contact the Oman embassy or consulate. Residence visas can be renewed via the online service on the Royal Oman Police website (www.rop.gov.om). Single parents in Oman will need documentary evidence of parental responsibility when obtaining a residence visa for their child/children.

Working Days Required

Visas are issued on arrival at the airport or, in advance, via the Oman embassy.

Entry Restrictions

People intending to work in Oman are required to have a working visa which must be requested by a local sponsor. It is valid for three months from the date of issue, can be extended and used for multiple entries and costs £38.

A single-entry visa originally valid for ten days can be extended for a further ten days at a cost of 5 Rials. A 30 day single-entry visa can be extended for one month at a cost of 20 Rials. A one-year multiple-entry visa is valid for stays up to three weeks on each visit and cannot be extended. A working visa can also be extended.
