- PRESS RELEASE
Several Omani companies have recently entered into new partnership agreements to supply construction materials to Tanzanian businesses, importers, distributors and building contractors.
Commenting on PAIPED's participation at BuiltInt Tanzania 2013, Nasima Al Balushi, Director General of Export Development at the Public Authority for Investment Promotion & Export Development (PAIPED), said, "This was PAIPED's first experience of participating at an international trade fair in Tanzania and it produced results way beyond our expectations."
"We're fully committed to developing Oman's non-oil exports and events like BuiltInt Tanzania help us achieve that. Indeed, Oman's construction industry has witnessed significant growth in terms of capabilities and the production of high quality products, and this puts Omani firms in a very strong position to compete for business alongside foreign competition at major international trade fairs," he added.
One of the many success stories from the exhibition has been Al Anwar Ceramic Tiles Co. SAOG, commenting on their successful participation, Aisha Al Sulimani, Marketing Specialist, said, "We thank PAIPED for facilitating our participation at BuiltInt Tanzania 2013. In terms of Tanzania, a gap exists in the market for construction materials which has created opportunities for us to establish an important foothold in the country."
Several other Omani companies have also begun shipping products and materials to Tanzania as a result of their participation at the Dar es Salaam trade show.
Mohammed Al-Rashidi, Sales Manager of Al Anwar Construction Materials, commented, "We've benefited greatly from PAIPED's assistance in developing business ties with Tanzania. Recent exhibitions and forums have provided us with a new platform to showcase our capabilities in the construction business to a growing market and negotiate mutually beneficial agreements. We're already in the process of sending our first shipment to Tanzania and will be meeting a number of Tanzanian companies in the near future to investigate further opportunities."
Gulf Stone Company has also entered into bilateral agreements with Tanzanian companies and has begun exporting goods to the African republic. Abdulmunam Al Morshidi, General Manager of Gulf Stone Co., remarked, "Tanzania is considered as an important market for an Omani exporter like Gulfstone, it is an emerging market for the building materials sector and is considered a gateway to other African countries. Since our participation in BuildInt Tanzania 2013, we've sent two containers of Engineered Tiles to Tanzania and are finalizing an agreement to export a further 12 consignments worth OMR 240,000."
"Tanzania has identified the tourism sector as a key economic driver for development, and this has created a growing need for high quality materials and equipment from experienced exporters which Omani companies are well placed to meet. The commercial agreements signed as a result of our participation at BuildInt Tanzania 2013 will only strengthen trade relations between Oman and Tanzania and increase the Sultanate's non-oil exports," said Nasima Al Balushi.
