- Oman: Thursday, April 25 - 2013 at 06:23
The Oman Society of Contractors (OSC) has said the finance ministry may favourably consider its request to reimburse additional cost arising from a mandatory rise in minimum wage of Omani workers with effect from July, Times of Oman has reported. "We have met Darwish bin Ismail Al Balushi, Minister Responsible for Financial Affairs, to raise the concerns of construction industry due to minimum wage revision of Omani workers," the chief executive of OSC, Salim Talib Al Sheedi, told the daily. The OSC has requested the ministry to reduce the present Omanisation ratio of 30% with a new mechanism, by applying employee strength as a criteria, he said. "We have also requested the ministry to separate construction industry from other industries," said Al Sheedi.
