Omani SMEs contribute 13.8% to GDP

Oman's commerce and industry ministry has said small and medium enterprises (SMEs) account for around 13.8% of the sultanate's GDP, Muscat Daily has reported. "Currently there are around 91,000 SMEs functioning in Oman as per a survey conducted by the statistics department at the ministry," said Sheikh Salah al Maawali, director general for the directorate general of SME development at the ministry. We have created a committee to evaluate the contribution of SMEs towards the GDP of the country," he said.
