Oman's electricity subsidy seen to surge 56% in 2012
- Oman: Sunday, November 25 - 2012 at 02:14
Oman's Authority for Electricity Regulation has said government subsidies on electricity supply within the Main Interconnected System (MIS), which covers much of the northern half of the Sultanate, are expected to climb to OR164.5m in 2012 from OR105.4m in 2011, Oman Daily Observer has reported. This figure could increase exponentially more if the actual market value of natural gas, the principal fuel for power generation in the sultanate, is taken into account, the regulator said.
