Oman's RAECO to set up solar, wind pilot project

Oman's Rural Areas Electricity Co (RAECO) is in advanced talks with local private firms to build a solar and a wind power project as pilot ventures in Mazyona and Masirah, in a move to test the efficiency of the technology in the sultanate, Times of Oman has reported. The 350kW-capacity solar project in Mazyona is to be developed as an independent power project by a private investor, said the chief executive of RAECO, Hamed bin Salim Al Magdheri. We are now finalising documentation work for signing the agreement with the private investor," said Al Magdheri. "We have already selected the location and is negotiating with a private investor," he added.
