Oman's stock exchange to launch index for Islamic firms next July

Muscat Securities Market (MSM) has announced it has started internally activating an index that includes the Islamic joint stock companies, which are approved by the Accounting and Auditing Organisation for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI), Times of Oman has reported. As per the approved Shari'ah principles, the index currently has 31 joint stock companies from different economic sectors. These companies will be revised every three months in terms of meeting Shari'ah principles. The index is to be officially launched at the beginning of next July.
