Omar Al-Daour appointed as new CEO of Central Electricity Generating Company

Central Electricity Generating Company (CEGCO) appointed Eng. Omar Al-Daour as the Company's Chief Executive Officer, in succession of Eng. Abdel Fattah Al-Nsour, who recently submitted his resignation following a remarkable professional journey marked by a series of noteworthy accomplishments and successes.
CEGCO Chairman Mr. Mohammed Bin Abunayyan expressed the Company's appreciation to Eng. Al-Nsour for his loyalty and dedication during his long standing tenure at CEGCO. He went on to add that throughout his time at CECGO, Eng. Al-Nsour's able leadership has steered the Company through multiple challenges and enabled it to achieve desired results.
Commenting on the appointment of Eng. Al-Daour, Mr. Abunayyan added, "Eng. Al-Daour has always been an active and influential member of the CEGCO family. He was extensively involved in guiding the Company during various milestones such as its privatization in 2005. Over the course of his professional career, Eng. Al-Daour has spearheaded several CEGCO projects, the most notable of which was the registration of the Aqaba Fuel Switch Project under the UNFCCC, which was later recognized as the 2008 Project Of The Year during the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition Conference (ADIPEC). I firmly believe that Eng. Al-Daour's contributions to CEGCO's success in previous years, combined with his deep understanding of the Company's needs and strategic directions, will provide stability and enable us to continue to grow and prosper."
In turn, Eng. Al-Daour stated, "I foresee a very bright future for CEGCO. The Company's unique corporate values, paired with its expert, efficient, dedicated and experienced team, will undoubtedly ensure enhanced productivity and competitiveness in Jordan's promising energy sector."
Eng. Al-Daour boasts over 30 years of in depth experience in the areas of corporate management and power plant engineering.
Over the course of his prolific career, he has served as a Leading Professional Advisor for the German International Cooperation Agency (GIZ) and worked at the Ministry of Water and Electricity (MOWE) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Since 2000, Eng. Al-Daour has been a member of CEGCO's executive team, assuming several notable positions including Assistant General Manager for Development and Planning, Executive Manager for Business Development, Assistant General Manager for Technical Affairs and acting Managing Director.
Under his numerous capacities at CEGCO, Eng. Al-Daour played a key role in setting up the Company's annual plans and strategies based on his in-depth experience in the development of CEGCO's assets and the efficient management of expansion projects.
During his last tenure at the Ministry of Water and Electricity in Riyadh, Eng. Al-Daour was responsible for conducting research and studies, as well as devising recommendations to overcome current and future challenges in the Saudi Arabian electricity sector.
