  • PRESS RELEASE

Oracle the world's leader in software and hardware systems engineered to work together, with more than 370,000 customers—including 100 of the Fortune 100—representing a variety of sizes and industries in more than 145 countries around the globe, will seize the Gitex 2012 platform to showcase its latest products and share with customers best practices in hardware, applications and database.

Oracle customers in the Middle East are reputed to be early adopters of new technology, and the seminar series, consisting of more than 100 seminar sessions over the five days, are designed to bring Middle East professionals up to speed with Oracle innovations unveiled last week at Oracle OpenWorld in the US, and best practices for business system design.

Through product showcases, live demos and expert sessions, Oracle will demonstrate to existing and potential customers the innovation behind Oracle engineered systems and how these translate into outstanding results of performance, efficiency and profits.

Current customers of Oracle Exadata in the region include ADNOC Distribution, who runs its ERP and sales systems controlling all its services stations on an Oracle Exadata machine that delivers high performance at a significantly reduced cost.

Among the announcements from Oracle Openworld is the Oracle Exadata X3 Database In-Memory Machine, which can store hundreds of Terabytes of compressed user data in Flash and RAM memory, virtually eliminating the performance overhead of reads and writes to slow disk drives.

In addition the seminar sessions will provide details of the next generation database, Oracle 12c, designed with multi-tenanting capabilities to run in the cloud; Oracle's Fusion Applications group of products, the cloud strategy for Oracle that was revealed by Larry Ellison at Oracle Openworld, and a host of other products and practices.

"We've been passionately engaged with Gitex for 23 consecutive years now as this is the major regional ICT platform that has helped us showcase our innovation to customers," said AbdulRahman Al Thehaiban, Vice President, Oracle - Middle East & Africa.
