ORPIC floats tenders of Sohar Refinery expansion

Oman Oil Refineries and Petroleum Industries Co (ORPIC) has floated the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) tender for the company's Sohar Refinery expansion project, Muscat Daily has reported. The company also floated a second tender for procurement of long-lead items for the refinery expansion project. The documents for both tenders will be distributed until January 16, 2013, with the last date for submitting bids on February 11. Set to be completed by the first half of 2016, the expansion project, estimated to cost $1.5bn to $1.8bn, is expected to improve Sohar Refinery's product quality and increase refining capacity by more than 70% to add another 60,000 barrels per day of oil to its current capacity.
