Panasonic showcases new CCTV solutions in Dubai
- United Arab Emirates: Tuesday, January 29 - 2013 at 14:34
Ranked the seventh safest spot to holiday in the world, Dubai may not seem like the most obvious market for high-tech security solutions but a multitude of devices were showcased at Intersec 2013.
With technology becoming more accessible, all sectors including government, healthcare, education, retail, and a wide variety of large and small commercial enterprises are empowered to incorporate CCTV and associated technologies for improved security.
Products on display during Intersec ranged from full HD end-to-end CCTV systems, fire alarm systems, cameras (IP & Analogue), recorders, fire alarm panels, detectors and complete IP control room software with integrated solutions.
Most innovation surrounding security camera technology now, other than image quality, surrounds integration, explains Yousef Maroun, who is Panasonic Middle East & Africa's (MEA) Senior Marketing Manager for their System Solutions Department.
"Most huge projects don't just want a single product, they want integration," he tells AMEinfo. "Additional to that we have cameras now with in-built video analytics, moving from analogue cameras to high-definition. The analytics features cover intrusion detection and behavior detection."
Behaviour detection flags up odd occurrences, such as sudden changes in direction from moving people and the removal of objects in view. If someone speeds up or slows down dramatically, this will also be detected. And while intrusion detection is nothing new, newer devices having built-in analytical capabilities will reduce processing strain at the computer end.
The security camera market is growing healthily across the Middle East, according to Maroun, who points to key deals in Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the UAE.
"You cannot compare Oman to Saudi for example - a huge country where investment is growing. The CCTV business in the Middle East is still increasing, with big projects and security needs. Not at the same speed as 2006/2007, but still growing," he explains. "In Saudi we have very big contracts with the Ministry of Interior, the police and some huge universities. These are very big projects with thousands of cameras."
In addition, Panasonic will introduce new cameras which will help organisations to increase the security levels and provide value added features, such as the 360° full HD camera and a new line of a specialist cameras with built in intelligent features and video analytics such as counting, congestion analytics, and fog compensation.
"Our industry specific solutions are designed and engineered to deliver the best technical support for a wide array of industries," says Hayashi Noriyuki, Manager if Panasonic Marketing MEA's System Solutions Department.
"They are customised to suit different sectors right from large business enterprises to small scale units. Over the years, we have expanded our line up to meet varied sectors and demands. We now have a commendable portfolio of security products on offering and Intersec gave us the ideal platform to showcase our expertise."
