Port of Sohar to promote eco-friendly practices as Silver Sponsor at Gulf Eco 2013

Port of Sohar will participate at Oman's premier environmental friendly exhibition-Gulf Eco Expo 2013 as Silver Sponsor as an affirmation of their support for the aspirations of the government in spreading awareness necessary in the use of the best technologies to preserve the environment.
The management of this industrial port lies with Sohar Industrial Port Company SAOC (SIPC), a 50/50 joint venture between the Government of Oman and the Port of Rotterdam.
The original agreement between the two parties was signed in 2002 and first industrial developments started in 2004. Today, the port is fully operational with state-of-the-art facilities and terminals.
With current investments exceeding $14bn it is one of the world's largest port development projects. Port of Sohar houses three clusters: logistics, petrochemicals and metals.
It is the vision of Sohar Industrial Port Company (SIPC) and Sohar Freezone to create, and maintain, an Industrial Complex that is healthy, safe, secure and environmentally friendly for the industries, its employees, visitors and the surrounding population and nature.
Good operational practices of the activities within the Port and Freezone Area ensure the protection of human life and health, the natural environment and the property in and around the SIP-area. The impacts of activities in the area on the health, safety, the social and natural environment are minimalized according to the Oman law and best international practice (BAT, IPPC and SEVESO).
The Gulf Eco Expo 2013 will take place from 20th-22nd January, 2013 at the Oman International Exhibition Centre from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
