Senior officials from the Qatar 2022 Supreme Committee and FIFA met last week in Doha to give an update on the current status of the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar Programme and present the Qatar 2022 Supreme Committee's strategic goals, objectives and projects.

"The agreements we have reached for working groups and senior officials to meet on a regular basis provide us with an enhanced framework for exchanging mutual updates and making timely decisions that will ultimately advance and enhance our FIFA World Cup programme," he added.

During the meeting, the Qatar 2022 Supreme Committee (Q22) presented FIFA with the first draft of the Grand Master Schedule for Stadia Construction. The Grand Master Schedule is the roadmap for delivery of the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar and will now be reviewed in detail together with FIFA. It will provide a framework for timelines of construction for competition and non-competition venues, in addition to national infrastructure projects key to the successful hosting of the event.

Q22 and FIFA agreed to establish a working group, encompassing various departments - scheduled to meet every two months for updates and next steps.

The Technical Department of the Qatar 2022 Supreme Committee detailed all capital works scheduled to be finalized in time for the FIFA World Cup; including, the metro, road and utilities systems, hotel and real estate developments, stadia, fan zones, entertainment and tourist attractions, as well as urban planning schemes.

Earlier this year, the Qatar 2022 Supreme Committee submitted a three-year Intermediate Project Management Plan (IPMP) to FIFA.

FIFA thanked Q22 for the very constructive meeting and commended the Qatar 2022 Supreme Committee in particular for the excellent Q22 IPMP document which will serve as a knowledge transfer management framework between FIFA and the Qatar 2022 Supreme Committee.
